Overview

The Communications Senior Associate is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring communication strategies for UNOPS projects in Peru, ensuring information is accessible and culturally appropriate for local communities. The role also supports UNOPS' public image and project results dissemination.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communication strategies for UNOPS projects in Peru.
  • Conduct target audience analysis and adapt messages and communication channels.
  • Develop detailed communication plans, including timelines, budgets, and evaluation metrics.
  • Produce communication materials in various formats (digital, written, radio, audiovisual).
  • Coordinate participation in community events, workshops, and outreach activities.
  • Manage relationships with local and national media.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and activities.
  • Prepare periodic reports on communication activities and message impact.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local communities and key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate community participation in communication strategy design and implementation.
  • Provide technical support to project teams on communication activities.
  • Ensure communication activities align with project objectives and results.
Required Experience
  • Between 3 and 7 years of proven work experience in communications with rural communities.
  • Ability to travel to UNOPS project areas in Peru.
  • At least two years of experience in communication and public information departments or media organizations.
  • Desired: Previous experience in government organizations, international cooperation, the United Nations System (UN), and/or official entities.
  • Desired: Experience in development communication, community work, or related fields involving contact with rural populations and vulnerable sectors.
  • Desired: Experience in developing and producing communication and information materials (digital, written, radio, audiovisual, or others).
  • Desired: Experience working in a team and under pressure.
Qualifications
  • Required: Secondary level education.
  • University or Master's degree may be compensated by additional years of work experience.
  • Desired: University or Master's degree, preferably in social communication, journalism, or related fields.
