Overview
The Regional Coordinator will be responsible and accountable for successful coordination, oversight and implementation of IOM’s multi-sectoral programme response in the regional area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the management and coordination and synergy of IOM’s multi-sectoral programme strategy and implementation in the regional area of operations.
- Guide the field programme team and support the coordination, implementation and reporting of programmes.
- Identify new partnerships and opportunities and contribute to proposal development, reporting and monitoring.
- Support the coordination of the IOM Area Based Approach, localization efforts and Emergency Response coordination.
- Support IOM’s participation in relevant inter-agency programmatic/ operational meetings.
- Represent IOM in regional interagency operational and programatic forums.
- Represent IOM in Inter-Agency forums such as the Area Security Management Team (ASMT) etc.
- Maintain strong communication flows between Sub-Offices’ programme staff and with Programme Coordinators.
- Oversee monitoring activities to assess the implementation of IOM programmes.
- Promote protection mainstreaming and address safeguarding concerns.
- Support HoSOs in reviewing contracts and financial documentation.
- Support the recruitment of national and international staff.
- Provide capacity building training to team members.
- Support Head of Sub-Office in meetings with relevant counterparts.
- Identify solutions and address operational/programming access issues.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
- Master’s degree with five years of relevant professional experience; or University degree with seven years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience and/or familiarity with the socio-economic and political context in the region.
- Extensive experience in successfully managing regional or multisectoral projects and providing programme and administrative/management support, both in development and emergency contexts.
- Supervisory and team management experience.
- Previous experience in managing IOM Offices as a Head of Office is advantageous.
- Humanitarian and/or development Interagency experience advantageous.
- Experience in government engagement useful.
- Excellent understanding of and proven experience in the UN systems and experience in a crisis context.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Political or Social Sciences, Humanities, International Relations, Law, Economics or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or
- University degree in the above fields.
