The internship involves assisting the Victims Participation and Reparations Section with research, drafting documents, identifying victims and intermediaries, and supporting training activities. The role aims to contribute to the Court's efforts to hold individuals accountable for grave crimes and prevent future occurrences.
Internship placements focus on candidates in the early stages of their professional careers; therefore, work experience is not an essential prerequisite for selection. However, practical experience relevant to the Court's work may be considered an asset. Applicants must have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience to be considered for an internship.
All candidates must have a university degree or be in the final stages of their relevant studies. Preferred fields include social sciences, such as political science, sociology, psychology, social work, communication, cultural studies, international relations, human rights, and law, as well as other relevant disciplines, such as data science, information technology, and statistics. Candidates are expected to have a very good record of academic performance.
