Overview
The Biomedical Engineer will be involved in Uzbekistan projects, ensuring coordination between National Programmes and UNOPS, and supporting the health system's alignment with SDG3.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with national authorities and health partners to coordinate and implement healthcare and laboratory equipment strengthening activities.
- Document existing health technology and laboratory networks and coordination mechanisms.
- Facilitate work planning and coordination meetings, and support capacity building training.
- Lead the preparation and finalization of technical specifications for medical equipment.
- Conduct technical evaluation of bids and oversee contract implementation related to medical equipment supply.
- Supervise and verify installation works on site, and lead testing, inspection, and commissioning processes.
- Ensure quality assurance procedures are implemented and coordinate corrective actions.
- Coordinate and verify on-site training provided by suppliers.
- Monitor contractor performance and advise on contractual issues.
- Maintain detailed asset files, technical documentation, service and compliance logs.
- Develop user SOPs and training materials, and manage vendor service contracts.
Required Experience
- 5 years of progressive relevant experience in the biomedical field of technical assistance in preparation of tender documentation for medical equipment and evaluation from a health procurement and economics perspective is required.
- Experience of working with multiple stakeholders delivering complex health interventions at national scale is a strong asset.
- Experience working in an international organization is an asset.
Qualifications
- A first-level (Bachelor or equivalent) preferably in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Biotechnology or other relevant healthcare profession with five (5) years of experience or an advanced (Master or equivalent) university degree preferably in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Biotechnology or other relevant healthcare profession with one (1) year of experience is desired.
- Additional certification in subject matter is an advantage.
