Overview

Internship in the Social Development Division of ECLAC to support the team in social development, protection and cultural policies.


Key Responsibilities
  • Research of quantitative, qualitative, institutional and official data on indicators and social development and protection policies, programmes and measures;
  • Drafting inputs related to social policy, public/government institutions, culture policies and social protection documents;
  • Gather and summarize research information on specific topics, particularly in social protection, social development and culture, including their institutional frameworks;
  • Contribute and support activities such as the organization of seminars and expert meetings, producing briefs and presentations, under request;
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team; process statistical information;
  • Contribute to update the content of databases and websites of the Social Development Division (on demand).
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. Previous knowledge of social protection policies, cultural policies or public expenditure is required for this internship.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish are required for this internship.
Languages Preferred
Spoken and written French is desirable. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
