Overview

The Associate Economic Affairs Officer will contribute to the economic and social development of the region by conducting economic and sector analysis, supporting intergovernmental processes, and contributing to technical cooperation projects.


Key Responsibilities
  • Collects, evaluates, interprets, and analyses statistics and qualitative socio-economic information.
  • Maintains databases and programmes for database management.
  • Assists in the design, testing, operation, and modification of econometric models.
  • Prepares briefing notes, inputs to speeches, and first drafts of analytical studies.
  • Assists in the organization and servicing of expert group meetings, seminars, etc.
  • Prepares inputs for reports to intergovernmental bodies.
  • Follows intergovernmental meetings and prepares summary reports.
  • Prepares inputs to statements by members of the Bureau and Secretariat staff.
  • Assists in the organization of panels, round tables etc.
  • Compiles and analyses data for technical cooperation project proposals.
  • Prepares documentation for technical cooperation programmes and projects.
  • Contributes to the preparation of material for project approval.
  • Monitors, backstops, and assesses the implementation of technical cooperation programmes and projects.
  • Collects and analyses data to identify trends or patterns and provides insights through graphs, charts, tables, and reports using data visualization methods.
Required Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programmes or related area is required. Experience in gender analysis is desirable. Experience in fiscal policies is desirable. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in economics related fields is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
