Overview
Provide translation services from Arabic to English and English to Arabic for various documents and audio content to support external communication goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Translating documents from Arabic to English or from English to Arabic, including website articles, social media posts, press releases, reports, and legal documents.
- Transcribing audio in Arabic and translating to English, including video human interest stories from the field and news reports.
- Proofreading Arabic documents.
- Translating Powerpoint slides, charts, graphics, maps and diagrams from English to Arabic for reports and presentations.
- Ensuring all translation aligns with IOM and UN standard terminology, unless otherwise specified.
- Being available outside of working hours for urgent translation requests and adhering to strict deadlines.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in various aspects of written and audio translation.
- Proven experience using local Palestinian, specifically Gazan dialect, as well as Modern Standard Arabic.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is a strong advantage.
Qualifications
- School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in visual arts and design or any relevant field or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Master’s degree is an advantage.
