Overview
Position for a Technician - GELINA technician and operator within the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. The role involves supporting the GELINA electron accelerator facility, focusing on its operation, maintenance, and upgrades to produce neutrons for various applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe operation (24h/24h, 5d/w in shifts), maintenance and repairs of the accelerator and its safety systems.
- Design and carry out upgrades of the installation.
- Support the team in the field of expertise, acquiring skills in mechanical engineering and design, radiation target development, vacuum technology, high power electronics and radiofrequency (RF) equipment, measurement and control electronics and software.
Required Experience
- Appropriate professional experience of at least three years (if secondary education is the highest qualification).
- Familiarity with either accelerator technology, vacuum technology, electronics, high power (RF) technology and/or the associated design, measurements, development, construction or automation technology are desirable.
Qualifications
- A level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, OR
- A level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education.
