Overview
Manage part of UNEP's portfolio of GEF, AF and GCF climate change adaptation projects in Asia. The role involves internalizing new projects, responding to partner queries, reviewing reports, and monitoring project progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide Programme Management Assistants in developing legal agreements and project internalization documents.
- Oversee project implementation progress, provide guidance, and initiate corrective actions.
- Review and clear technical deliverables and process consultancy payments.
- Participate in Project Steering Committee meetings.
- Prepare project supervision plans and risk logs.
- Review and clear expenditure reports, prepare budget revisions and cash advances.
- Facilitate technical and financial project closure.
- Travel for project monitoring and planning missions as required.
- Prepare and review progress reports from Executing Agencies.
- Prepare GEF PIR, AF PPR, and GCF APR templates and review submitted reports.
- Prepare MTR recommendations implementation plans.
- Respond to GEF review comments and revise project documents.
Required Experience
- Minimum five years of experience in managing projects related to climate change adaptation, livelihoods, environment, or development is required;
- Experience in working with national governments in Asia is required;
- Experience in private sector financing instruments and approaches is required;
- Experience working with GEF, GCF, Adaptation Fund or UNEP projects is an asset;
Qualifications
Advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: sustainable development, international development, environmental sciences, development studies or a related field. A first level degree with additional two years of qualifying experience maybe accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
