Overview
The Shelter Assistant will assist in the daily functioning of assigned shelters and follow-up with beneficiaries, acting as a focal point for communication and supporting project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as general focal point for daily communication on site, responding to routine queries and referring issues to the supervisor.
- Assist in monitoring project activities and support follow-up.
- Assist the administrative coordination of shelter activities daily.
- Assist in conducting regular assessments, support monitoring activities, and provide inputs for progress reports.
- Support assistance to migrants, reception and identification of beneficiaries, briefing them on assistance and shelter rules, monitoring compliance, preparing rooms and basic items, supporting kit distribution, and maintaining daily records.
- Assist with shelter maintenance and hygiene, including reporting issues, supporting proper use of infrastructures, and following up on cleaning activities.
- Support safety and security-related activities by checking shelter infrastructures daily and reporting issues, and assisting in emergency situations.
- Support the handling of shelter-related information, including data collection and sharing information with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
- Support activities that encourage the participation of shelter beneficiaries, with emphasis on inclusion of women, unaccompanied migrant children, persons with specific needs, including those with health needs and disabilities, into decision-making processes.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
- Four years of relevant work experience with a high school diploma; or
- Two years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Development, International Relations, Political Sciences or a related field.
- Experience in supporting operations, assistance to migrants, and humanitarian work.
- Previous experience working in a similar position.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and keep deadlines.
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Development, International Relations, Political Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
