Seeking Health & Safety/Environmental Protection specialists for Staff Assistant and Staff Officer roles to ensure compliance with legislation and manage environmental risks.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for Health and Safety policy implementation.
  • Prepare documents for compliance with laws and directives.
  • Assist in performing Health and Environmental surveys and on-site inspections.
  • Assist in planning, development, and implementation of Safety Programs.
  • Report to accident spots and assist in emergencies.
  • Execute training for personnel.
  • Attend contractual safety performance conferences.
  • Provide reports on safety violations and recommendations.
  • Draft articles of public interest.
  • Support verification of safety products and quality control.
  • Undertake work as part of a project team or working group.
  • Develop technical measures for HSEE policy implementation.
  • Ensure HSEE and industrial accident prevention measures.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop technical measures to reduce H&S hazards.
  • Implement risk assessment to prevent environmental accidents/incidents.
  • Develop measures for energy efficiency programs.
  • Investigate HSEE related accidents/incidents and produce recommendations.
  • Provide technical advice on personal protective equipment.
  • Coordinate and advise on education and training courses for HSEE matters.
  • Participate in training and exercise events.
  • Advise on relevant doctrines, procedures, and regulations.
  • Provide technical advice for the development/drafting of SOPs/SOIs concerning work equipment, chemical substances, protective equipment, fire prevention, emergency activities, and energy efficiency management.
Required Experience
  • Profound post related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years post related in HSE and 4 years function related experience in NATO structure (Staff Assistant).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the engineering profession after formal qualification (Staff Officer).
  • Minimum of 5 years post related experience in HSE and 3 years function related experience in NATO structure (Staff Officer).
  • Strong knowledge of Italian laws on Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency management.
  • Working experience in an international/military Environment.
  • Knowledge and working experience on NATO Policies on Environmental Protection (Staff Officer).
  • Previous experience in Health and Safety Office (Staff Assistant desirable).
  • Previous working experience in a NATO Health and Safety Office (Staff Officer desirable).
Qualifications
  • Secondary school level and 2 years function related experience (Staff Assistant).
  • University degree in Environmental Engineering with 2 years post related experience (Staff Officer).
  • Formal qualification as RSPP/ASPP (Responsabile/Addetto del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione dai Rischi) pursuant to Host Nation law Legislative decree no. 81/08: Ateco A and B from 1 to 9 and module C Courses.
  • Formal Qualification as engineer with registration in the professional register (Staff Officer).
  • Certification as Energy Manager (Staff Officer).
  • Formal Qualification as expert in acoustics (Staff Officer).
  • Formal Qualification as expert in fire-fighting design (Staff Officer).
  • Engineer registered as Instructor (Staff Officer).
  • Professional specialization on Health and Safety, Environmental Protection, Energy Efficiency Host Nation laws activities (Staff Officer desirable).
  • Qualification as Safety coordinator on construction sites (Staff Officer desirable).
  • ISO 9001:2008 Management System auditor / Lead auditor course (Staff Officer desirable).
  • Master in Project Management (Staff Officer desirable).
Other Details
Languages Required
• A good command of English both written and spoken. • The HQ's host nation language (Italian) is required.
Languages Preferred
• Fully professional level in Host Nation language (Staff Officer desirable).
Contract Duration
Initially a definite duration contract of three years.
