Overview
The Radiotherapy Medical Physicist enhances Member States' capabilities in establishing, developing, and implementing new techniques, methodologies, and training materials in the physical and technical aspects of radiotherapy, focusing on quality assurance and dosimetry auditing.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in projects on developments in medical physics for radiotherapy, including designing programme components, developing research projects, organizing meetings, and providing technical advice.
- Support quality assurance activities for novel radiotherapy treatment modalities and develop new dosimetry techniques.
- Analyze data from participating hospitals and secondary standards dosimetry laboratories for quality auditing in dosimetry.
- Act as a technical officer for IAEA's technical cooperation projects in medical physics in radiotherapy.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience in radiotherapy physics.
- Experience in radiotherapy beam calibration and clinical dosimetry.
- Experience in clinical brachytherapy physics.
- Experience and practical skills in the physical and technical aspects of quality assurance in radiotherapy.
- Experience in education and training in medical physics.
- Demonstrated experience in project design, monitoring, and implementation.
- Familiarity with and understanding of the specific needs and conditions of low and middle income countries in the field of radiotherapy physics.
Qualifications
• Doctorate Degree in medical radiation physics or radiation dosimetry.
