Overview
The consultant will support IOM Algeria’s activities under the Assistance to Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programme, ensuring safe medical movement of vulnerable migrants with special needs.
Key Responsibilities
- - Conduct pre-departure medical evaluations, fitness to travel assessment, and pre-hosting assessments.
- - Liaise with receiving missions to share medical files and evaluate medical assistance on arrival.
- - Undertake pre-departure preparations including familiarization with beneficiaries and medical files.
- - Monitor the health status of escorted beneficiaries during transit and provide emergency interventions if necessary.
- - Record medical notes, observations, and interventions.
- - Notify IOM medical team staff in case of significant deterioration of the beneficiary’s condition.
- - Hand over escorted patients to a responsible entity upon arrival.
- - Fill in the Migrant Handover Notification Form.
- - Release medical records and a copy of the Observation and Intervention Report to the beneficiary or guardian.
- - Ensure special medical equipment is returned as instructed.
Required Experience
Minimum of four years of clinical experience.
Qualifications
- University Degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution.
- University Degree in Nursing from an accredited academic institution.
- Valid certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
