Overview
The Consultant shall provide communications support to the SMART Project Coordinator in accordance with UNRWA policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertakes field visits and supports the collection of communications content, including interviews, photographs and short video footage.
- Assists in documenting programme activities and field initiatives.
- Supports colleagues by sharing basic guidance on ethical content collection and photography.
- Maintains and updates an organized digital repository of communications materials.
- Supports the implementation of approved visibility and communications plans.
- Assists in the preparation of communications products such as infographics, social media posts, brochures, presentations and event materials.
- Coordinates with internal teams to compile and relay information.
- Contributes to storytelling and documentation efforts by gathering and drafting human interest stories, beneficiary profiles and field updates.
- Assists in the preparation of SMART Field Notes, periodic updates, interviews and short communications briefs.
- Captures, select and catalogue photographs, short videos and quotes from field sites.
- Supports the adaptation of technical information and monitoring data into clear, audience appropriate communication materials.
- Supports the documentation of lessons learned and good practices.
- Maintains communications and knowledge repositories.
- Provides logistical and communications support for workshops, events and key project milestones.
- Contributes to the drafting inputs, background narratives and communications sections for project proposals, concept notes and funding briefs.
- Assists in translating field information and project data into clear and engaging donor focused content.
- Coordinates with programme, M&E and technical teams to compile required inputs and supporting documentation.
- Ensures proposal‐related materials are formatted and organized.
- Maintains an organized archive of proposal related communications materials.
- Perform other communications, visibility or documentation duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
- At least two years of relevant experience in communications, storytelling, journalism, media production, or related work in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality stories, proposals, and donor-facing communications materials.
- Experience in field documentation, interviewing, and content collection.
- Experience in humanitarian response or community engagement is an asset.
Qualifications
University degree from an accredited institution in communications, journalism, public relations, media studies, development studies, or a related field.
