Overview

Provide technical expertise to enhance sustainable crop production systems within FAO Lebanon programmes and field interventions, focusing on climate smart agriculture, good agricultural practices, soil health, and water-use efficiency.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance for crop production activities.
  • Support design and rollout of climate smart agriculture and GAP.
  • Lead assessments on crop production constraints and opportunities.
  • Develop and validate technical protocols.
  • Provide field support and advisory services to farmers.
  • Contribute to training materials and technical packages.
  • Support demonstration plots and field trials.
  • Ensure alignment with FAO standards and national policies.
  • Monitor field implementation and document lessons learned.
  • Prepare technical reports and inputs for project reports.
  • Facilitate coordination with government institutions and research centers.
  • Contribute to procurement processes by preparing technical specifications.
  • Provide technical backstopping to project staff.
  • Contribute technical inputs to programme/project development and implementation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide advice on policies and strategies.
  • Lead capacity development activities.
  • Ensure technical quality assurance and control.
  • Ensure smooth project implementation through stakeholder meetings.
  • Prepare detailed work plans.
  • Assist in preparing technical specifications for inputs and equipment.
  • Consult and communicate with key project stakeholders.
  • Represent FAO in interagency clusters and technical working groups.
  • Draft Terms of Reference for consultants.
  • Coordinate the work of affiliate personnel.
  • Contribute to the preparation of Letters of Agreements.
  • Implement a robust monitoring and evaluation system.
  • Provide technical input to written outputs.
  • Provide advice and technical expertise to knowledge management activities.
  • Document best practices, success stories and lessons learned.
  • Assist in preparation of periodic progress and ad hoc reports.
  • Contribute to preparation of reports for donors.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in crop production, sustainable agriculture, or field-level implementation of agricultural development projects.
  • Experience with a UN Agency or International NGO is desirable.
  • Familiarity with international development practices and donor procedures is an asset.
Qualifications

• University degree in agronomy, crop science, plant production, agricultural sciences, or a related field

• Working knowledge (level C) of English and Arabic • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of other relevant languages is an advantage.
