Overview
This role aims to establish and strengthen medical health services and occupational health within UNOPS, providing technical support and oversight for medical services and occupational health interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing standards and technical requirements for occupational health and primary health care.
- Developing guidance, tools and processes for occupational health requirements and basic medical care.
- Establishing processes for identifying occupational health exposures, implementing controls, monitoring performance, and managing incidents.
- Contributing to the establishment of key performance indicators for health services and occupational health.
- Monitoring indicator trends and providing support for performance issues.
- Reviewing and supporting efforts to improve health services quality and availability.
- Creating a system for reviewing health service provider performance.
- Coordinating medical support for work-related illnesses.
- Developing and implementing training programmes for personnel, contractors, and partners.
- Serving as the focal point for Occupational health knowledge building and sharing.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a fully registered, licensed and practising medical doctor.
- Within these 5 years, at least 3 years of experience as an occupational health doctor.
- At least 2 years of experience working in humanitarian, development, or fragile settings is a strong asset.
- Experience in developing medical fitness standards and a medical surveillance programme is desired.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Medicine and a postgraduate qualification (specialisation) in occupational health with 7 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Medicine and a postgraduate qualification (specialisation) in occupational health with 5 years of relevant experience.
