Overview
The Humanitarian Affairs Officer - Analysis, Communications and Advocacy will act as a team leader, developing and maintaining information management workflows, partnerships with humanitarian actors, content management, quality assurance, and operational coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a small team of information, comms, and advocacy staff.
- Support the management and updating of content across OCHA’s digital platforms.
- Coordinate with partners and stakeholders to gather and verify information.
- Monitor developments in country, collaborating with local partners and other OCHA Unites.
- Build and maintain relationships with public information and information management teams.
- Conduct research, context analysis, and monitoring relevant developments.
- Prepare various reports, briefings, and presentations.
- Act as a liaison for technical issues, coordinating with the development team.
Required Experience
- Applicants with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience.
- Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) must have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, information management, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development or other related area.
- Experience in product management, web content analysis and in the delivery of information services and solutions is required.
- Experience working with partners, coordinating different inputs, drafting reports and analytical products and manage large amount of information is required.
- Experience within OCHA, the UN common system or an international NGO is an advantage.
- Experience in team management is desirable.
- Experience in humanitarian affairs is desirable.
- Experience in tools managing version control such as Git is highly desirable.
- Experience with database or programming languages (SQL, Python, R) is desirable.
- Experience in Advanced Excel and Powerpoint is desirable.
- Experience working with humanitarian databases and platforms will be considered an asset.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, social science, information management, international studies, economics, or a related field is required.
- Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in political science, social science, information management, international studies, economics or a related field, combined with two (2) additional years of relevant experience, will be given due consideration in lieu of a Master’s degree.
