Overview
Provide strategic, technical, and operational support to policy and programme initiatives for resilient and sustainable food systems transformation in Burundi.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for livelihoods and resilience programmes.
- Lead the design, implementation, and scaling up of integrated resilience programmes.
- Support Government-led coordination and policy dialogue on food systems transformation.
- Contribute to resource mobilisation efforts by developing project proposals.
- Provide technical leadership and advisory support on food systems-related programming.
- Strengthen resilience programming through application of WFP’s Three-Pronged Approach.
- Lead and support inter-programme coordination for integrated multisectoral approaches.
- Ensure strong knowledge management, monitoring, and learning.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships.
- Provide managerial oversight and capacity development for staff.
- Ensure efficient use of financial resources and compliance with WFP policies.
Required Experience
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the design and implementation of livelihoods, resilience, and food systems programmes.
- Strong analytical, coordination, and strategic thinking skills.
- Proven experience in supervising and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Proven ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
- Sound judgement, initiative, tact, and strong negotiation and partnership-building skills.
- Ability to work under challenging field conditions and flexibility to undertake duties beyond standard office settings.
- Proficiency in Windows and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with GIS and publication software (e.g. MS Publisher) is an asset.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree in International Affairs, Economics, Agriculture, Nutrition/Health, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or another field relevant to international development.
- Additional years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
