Overview
The National Project Coordinator will lead and coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the project "Building community resilience to climate-induced multi-hazards in the BuPuSa Transboundary River Basins". The role involves technical implementation, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the day-to-day implementation of project activities across the Buzi, Pungwe and Save transboundary river basins.
- Develop annual and quarterly work plans, and support procurement and contracting processes.
- Provide technical and logistical support to planned activities.
- Lead monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes.
- Serve as the primary focal point for engagement with partners and stakeholders.
- Organize project related events and undertake project related missions.
- Support the development and maintenance of project communication platforms.
- Support the work of the UNESCO Natural Sciences sector and contribute to its activities.
Required Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in managing/coordinating programmes in one or more of the following fields: water resources, environmental sciences, climate change and natural sciences.
- Working experience within UNESCO or UN agencies is desired but not obligatory.
- Experience in working and collaborating with governments and in the public participation development process.
- Experience in the use of hydrological modelling techniques and disaster risk prevention and management tools.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing hydrometeorological Early Warning Systems.
Qualifications
• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in the fields of natural sciences, climate related studies, disaster risk reduction, hydrology or earth sciences.
