Overview
The role involves contributing to communication efforts for the Indigenous Peoples Unit (PSUI) within FAO, focusing on advocacy, outreach, and content creation related to Indigenous Peoples' rights and food systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to drafting, production, and issuance of PSUI briefs, web stories, and newsletter editions.
- Prepare stories, press notes, and other communication materials.
- Undertake basic layout work for flyers and other materials.
- Update the PSUI website content and implement web design changes.
- Coordinate with graphic designers for publications.
- Support the creation and implementation of the 2026-2027 PSUI Advocacy Plan.
- Support the creation of a visual identity for PSUI advocacy products.
- Contribute to the development of outreach materials for resource mobilization.
- Write and disseminate advocacy material for events and programmes.
- Manage the PSUI social media presence and create content.
- Create content for internal communication purposes.
- Coordinate the production and publication of videos.
- Lead and coordinate the drafting and circulation of the PSUI Annual Report.
- Support managing the content of the HOPE room in the FAO Museum.
- Monitor outreach performance and prepare reports.
- Support the organization of events, webinars, and engagement activities.
- Gather content from the field for news items and multimedia content.
- Support the analysis and make recommendations for relevant projects and programmes.
Required Experience
- At least one year of relevant experience in public and/or private sectors related to outreach and programming in food and agriculture.
- Work experience in more than one location or area of work.
- Work experience in the field with Indigenous Peoples.
- Experience of research with Indigenous Peoples.
- Experience in data and Indigenous Peoples.
- Experience with Indigenous Peoples’ food systems, Indigenous Women, Indigenous Youth, seeds, geospatial work, project implementation, programme design and policy work would be an asset.
- Experience in FPIC with Indigenous Peoples would be a requirement for specific consultants on FPIC matters.
Qualifications
- For Consultants: Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in communication, development studies, environmental science, social sciences, anthropology, development studies, human rights, or any field related to FAO's mandate. Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.
- For PSAs: University or technical degree/certificate in communication, development studies, environmental science, social sciences, anthropology, development studies, human rights, or any field related to FAO's mandate.
