Overview

The International UN Volunteer ICT Specialist is responsible for assisting and implementing ICT policies and standards, providing ICT and administrative support services, and offering daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain IT and telecommunications systems, including LAN and WAN, servers, internet connectivity, and hardware.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure high availability of network infrastructure.
  • Develop new and update current Google online Forms to digitize paperwork.
  • Manage and monitor Google Drive services and provide user support.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems, applications, and software.
  • Provide ICT support to UNFPA staff across Afghanistan Country Office and Area Offices, both onsite and remotely.
  • Perform hardware maintenance and repairs.
  • Deliver technical support for presentations and workshops conducted via Zoom and Google Meet.
  • Assist with VoIP installation and configuration.
  • Serve as backup for technical support during the LAN Manager’s absence.
  • Provide full support to international colleagues during evenings and weekends.
  • Safeguard confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data, LAN/WAN, and network security.
  • Implement cybersecurity measures, including firewall protection and endpoint security.
  • Enforce information security policies, including user access control and password management.
  • Plan and develop new information systems and upgrade existing LAN/WLAN and hardware infrastructure.
  • Administer user accounts under UNFPA Google Accounts and manage access permissions.
  • Contribute to the development and updating of the Country Office Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
  • Manage and monitor internet connections of Microwave and VSAT links.
  • Maintain a stock of ICT equipment, laptops, and accessories.
  • Prepare the annual procurement plan for ICT equipment and devices.
  • Assist with ICT budgeting for goods and services, hardware, and software licenses procurement.
  • Provide training and support to staff on ICT, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
  • Perform other ICT-related duties and support as required.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in network administration, including support to the management of hardware and software platforms and telecommunications facilities.
  • Proven experience in the installation and configuration of hardware and software in a Windows network environment is required.
  • Knowledge of windows server 2008 operating systems and network and PC/LAN operating systems, PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft Windows, corporate ICT security and viral protection systems and ERP is a requirement.
  • Relevant Experience in UN is desirable.
Qualifications

Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer science or other related fields.
