Overview
Provide high-quality paramedical support in remote areas for the UNVMC, responding to emergencies and routine medical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides emergency assistance and trains staff.
- Attends, orients, and supports routine medical needs.
- Ensures 24/7 in-person emergency care availability.
- Identifies and plans medical material, supplies, and equipment requirements.
- Delivers services in designated and remote areas.
- Maintains and updates records on equipment, supplies, and waste disposal.
- Prepares emergency/trauma/evacuation kits.
- Conducts medical briefings and updates monthly medical reports.
- Operates under ethical, confidential, and professional standards.
- Assists and participates as a facilitator in medical-related security training.
- Supports the delivery of medical-related training.
- Collaborates with the UNVMC Medical Officer and Field Teams.
- Participates in Occupational Health and Safety promotion.
- Serves as an Occupational Health and Safety focal point.
- Submits monthly reports and attendance records.
- Supports emergency brigade activities.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in the provision of health care services, preferably in pre-hospital, emergency, or field settings, is required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide emergency medical care in high-pressure environments, apply triage protocols, and ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment, are required.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, high ethical standards, discretion, and the ability to operate independently in diverse cultural and operational contexts, are required.
Qualifications
- Certified Paramedic or Prehospital Care Technician (PHCT), with current registration or license issued by a recognized national health authority with a minimum of 6 semesters.
- Valid certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), First Aid, and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) are mandatory.
- A university degree in Prehospital Care (minimum 6 semesters) is required.
