Overview
The CCAC Senior Coordinator for the Super Pollutants Accelerator in Mexico will support the government of Mexico in the effective implementation and oversight of the ‘Accelerator’ programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and operationalize the CCAC Accelerator Programme engagement strategy and action plan.
- Prepare periodic implementation and progress monitoring reports.
- Develop a documented alignment framework ensuring coherence between national priorities and international climate and air quality commitments.
- Produce regular coordination outputs for the super pollutants team, including meeting minutes, action trackers, and workplans.
- Establish a team coordination and performance tracking system.
- Prepare high-quality briefing packages for senior government officials.
- Develop strategic advisory notes for Mexico’s participation in regional and international fora.
- Consolidate key messages and positioning documents.
- Prepare post-engagement debrief notes and recommendations.
- Develop a stakeholder mapping and engagement plan.
- Organize and facilitate multi-stakeholder meetings, workshops, and consultations.
- Establish or strengthen coordination mechanisms/platforms for stakeholder collaboration.
- Prepare periodic engagement reports.
- Develop an annual/rolling calendar of key international and regional climate engagements.
- Coordinate logistical and substantive support packages for Mexico’s participation in priority forums.
- Prepare tracking briefs on key global processes.
- Develop follow-up matrices capturing commitments, responsibilities, and status of implementation.
- Prepare technical input briefs integrating scientific evidence into policy discussions.
- Develop policy translation products derived from technical analyses.
- Document review and validation processes ensuring scientific rigor.
- Contribute to evidence-based position papers for international engagement.
- Prepare progress reports (monthly/quarterly) against KPIs.
- Prepare a consolidated annual results report.
- Maintain a knowledge repository.
- Prepare lessons learned and best practice briefs.
- Prepare continuity and handover notes.
- Develop a detailed yearly workplan.
- Prepare monthly activity reports.
- Prepare 3 monthly in-depth progress reports and 6 monthly progress reports against KPI.
Required Experience
- 8–10 years of experience in public policy and intergovernmental relations in environmental and/or climate diplomacy, preferably within government and/or international organizations.
- Strong understanding of Mexico’s environmental legal framework and multilateral environmental agreements.
- Experience supporting or advising high‑level government decision‑makers.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral presentations.
- Knowledge of the national policies in climate change mitigation and air pollution.
- A good understanding of short-lived climate pollutants, climate change and air pollution issues in Mexico.
- Strong leadership, diplomacy, and strategic planning skills are highly desired.
- Strong coordination, negotiation, and facilitation skills are highly desired.
Qualifications
• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental policy, climate science, international relations, public policy, or a related discipline. A first‑level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
