Overview
Provide technical support to the Lumbini Province Government to strengthen the implementation of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions under the Multi Sector Nutrition Plan III. The support will focus on strengthening nutrition responsive governance, institutional capacity, and coordination across federal, provincial, and local levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to provincial and local governments to integrate nutrition priorities into policies, plans, and programmes.
- Strengthen multisectoral coordination mechanisms for the effective implementation of Nutrition Specific and Sensitive interventions.
- Support the Provincial Ministry of Health, Provincial Health Directorate, Health Offices, Provincial Planning Commission, MSNP coordinators, and local governments in implementing and scaling up priority nutrition interventions.
- Facilitate coordination among relevant sectors, development partners, and stakeholders.
- Support subnational government for evidence based targeted programme planning, management, and delivery of results.
- Monitor implementation progress, identify bottlenecks, and facilitate timely corrective actions.
- Strengthen the capacity of province and local level sectoral staff, MSNP coordinators and facilitators, health workers, and Female Community Health Volunteers.
- Support routine monitoring and reporting of programme implementation.
- Strengthen the use of information systems such as DHIS2 and INIMS for evidence-based decision making.
- Document good practices, innovations, and lessons learned.
- Support advocacy for increased domestic investment in nutrition.
- Strengthen networking and partnerships with government entities, civil society, and development partners.
- Facilitate social and behavioural change initiatives.
- Facilitate document key lesson learned from the MSNP implementation in the form of provincial policy briefs, human interest stories, success stories, best practice, audio/ video materials and video clips, implementation science research papers.
- Conduct field visits to support programme monitoring, joint supervision, on-site coaching, and facilitation of capacity-building activities.
Required Experience
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant and child health/nutrition care, and system strengthening.
- At least three years of experience of working at the national or sub-national level in planning, programming, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of technical cooperation programs related to Nutrition/Health/MSNP with government and non-government organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in coordination, data analytics, facilitation, and capacity-building within a nutrition/public health programme context.
- Knowledge and experience of working on nutrition specific programming and MSNP at Provincial and Local level.
- Experience in health and nutrition system strengthening in development contexts (desirable).
- Prior coordination experience with multistakeholder platforms at provincial or local government level (desirable).
Qualifications
Master’s degree in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, nutritional epidemiology, or another health-related science field.
