Overview
Provides para-professional leadership in supporting the implementation of healthcare and laboratory equipment strengthening activities, ensuring coordination, technical accuracy, and alignment with project goals and national health strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with national authorities and health partners to propose coordination and implementation of healthcare and laboratory equipment strengthening activities.
- Document existing laboratory networks and coordination mechanisms, assist health technology assessment related issues.
- Facilitate work planning meetings, coordination meetings and support capacity building training.
- Support collaboration with health partners to ensure equipment recommendations align with international recommendations and local regulations.
- Interact with colleagues, clients, partners and other relevant stakeholders to share vital information on operational issues related to laboratory operations and Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) requirements.
- Attend relevant technical meetings and maintain excellent contacts with all stakeholders.
- Prepare technical specifications for medical equipment subject to procurement, confirm compliance with project needs and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Verify elaborated technical equipment with beneficiaries and services in terms of compliance with project budget and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Perform technical evaluation of proposals for the supply of medical equipment.
- Determine compliance of bids in accordance with technical requirements.
- Coordinate with local suppliers for delivery and installation of goods as per project plan.
- Perform quality assurance upon installation and commissioning of goods.
- Follow-up on on-site training with suppliers to confirm operational readiness and knowledge transfer.
- Support the development of budgeted work plans, performance framework and commodities forecasting related to public health activities.
- Review work plans and reports, ensuring they are sound and in line with the project, policy and strategies.
- Participate in field visits and project sites.
- Participate in data collection, data management, data quality review and reporting.
- Provide input to communications and information products.
- Maintenance of up to date program records.
- Contribute to project progress reporting to donors and stakeholders.
Required Experience
- Relevant experience is work in biomedical engineering, medical equipment procurement, installation, and maintenance or related areas.
- Experience in preparing technical specifications and evaluating proposals for medical equipment.
- Experience in coordinating with suppliers and performing quality assurance.
- Desired: Experience of working in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country.
- Desired: Experience in development or humanitarian contexts.
- Desired: Experience in biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory requirements.
Qualifications
- Secondary school with 7 years of relevant experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Desired: Certification in medical equipment maintenance or quality assurance.
