Overview
Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of emergency education interventions at subnational and national levels, contributing to UNICEF’s Education in Emergencies response.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of emergency education response in Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Zhytomyr oblasts, including catch-up programmes, rehabilitation of damaged education facilities, installation of shatter-resistant window film, and rehabilitation of shelters.
- Engage and coordinate with key stakeholders, including local governments, education institutions, civil society organizations, and implementing partners.
- Ensure alignment of interventions with UNICEF guidance, EiE standards, and national education priorities.
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge generation through field data collection and analysis, tracking of programme results, and documentation of lessons learned and good practices.
- Support the preparation of situational and donor reports.
- Support EiE knowledge management by maintaining the EiE folder on Cloudshare and managing data inputs for EiE dashboards.
- Facilitate technical meetings, prepare presentations and analytical briefs, support related documentation, and document meeting outcomes.
- Contribute to education coordination mechanisms, including the Education Cluster, and support the transition towards a government-led EiE Working Subgroup.
- Provide technical, logistical, administrative, and communication support to the UNICEF Country Office.
Required Experience
- 7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in supporting the design, implementation, monitoring, or evaluation of education programmes, including work aligned with national education priorities.
- Technical knowledge in education sciences, learning assessment and approaches to addressing learning loss.
- Experience in coordination and collaboration with government counterparts, subnational education authorities, local communities (hromadas), implementing partners, and other education stakeholders.
- Experience in education in emergencies programmes, catch-up programmes, rehabilitation of education institutions, or other related education in emergencies interventions is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in analytical work, including reviewing programme performance, learning outcomes, and service delivery gaps, and translating findings into practical, evidence-based recommendations.
- Demonstrated understanding of the education sector in Ukraine, as well as education and decentralization reforms.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience in drafting reports, briefing notes, presentations, and other technical and analytical documents.
- Solid computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet-based tools. Familiarity with data collection or basic database management is an asset.
- Experience working with UNICEF, the UN system, or other international development organizations is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work inclusively, collaboratively, and respectfully in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
- Self-motivation and initiative, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Education, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
