Overview
The Senior Security Officer will support the Head of Country Cluster Delegation and the Regional Security Coordinator in managing the security of personnel and assets in Sudan. The role involves monitoring the security situation, implementing security requirements, and coordinating security processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise and support on security related matters focusing on personnel and assets.
- Provide technical guidance in relation to security related issues in appeals and budgets.
- Guide and support the in-country security risk management process.
- Assist in creating security management systems and provide support to mission components.
- Follow-up on security incident reporting and assist in incident analysis and mapping.
- Monitor and analyse the security / political and socio-economic situation.
- Update the IFRC Risk Register and make appropriate recommendations.
- Guide and support the development of in-country minimum security requirements (MSR).
- Monitor, evaluate and report on the implementation of MSRs.
- Establish and maintain a security network of internal and external contacts.
- Participate in relevant security meetings.
- Conduct security briefings for all incoming personnel.
- Provide general or more specific security trainings.
- Mentor NSs’ security focal point/security managers.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of relevant humanitarian field experience.
- 3 years of experience in security management within a humanitarian or development sector.
- Experience of IFRC management procedures and security approach.
- Previous experience with NGOs / the Movement.
- Experience in a medium to high-risk security area, preferably with IFRC or RC field assignment in a management position.
- Experience of developing contingency plans and implementing of relocation / evacuation.
- Experience of relationship-building, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively represent IFRC at forums with external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Security Management or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Successfully Completed the Stay Safe Global Edition 1-3 e-learning courses.
- IMPACT or equivalent knowledge.
