Overview

The role involves teaching Russian language courses to staff, promoting multilingualism and developing language skills. The teacher will facilitate and deliver scheduled courses, maintain the learning platform, and provide feedback to students.


Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and deliver assigned courses as scheduled.
  • Maintain courses on the CLM language learning platform (Moodle).
  • Correct student assignments on time and provide feedback.
  • Administer, assess, and grade evaluation tasks on time.
  • Enter final evaluation results, student attendance, and assignment data into the administrative platform.
  • Teach Russian general language courses and specialized courses, either in person or online.
  • Prepare classes, develop and update learning materials.
  • Prepare, monitor, and test devices and software for class delivery.
  • Administer and update the CLM language learning platform (Moodle).
  • Monitor student activity and results in autonomous activities.
  • Upload post-lesson content.
  • Provide group and individual feedback on student progress.
  • Advise students on developing linguistic skills.
  • Administer, assess, and grade tasks, tests, and exams.
  • Carry out administrative duties related to teaching.
  • Attend meetings, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in group work sessions.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of four years of experience teaching Russian as a foreign or second language to adults in a multi-cultural setting (corporate, academic or other professional setting) is required.
  • Of these, at least three years of recent experience in curriculum development, language examination design, and/or language teacher training is required.
  • Experience using a variety of e-learning tools, learning management systems (i.e. Moodle) and online collaboration tools to teach a second or foreign language is desirable.
  • Experience at an international level in a multicultural environment is desirable.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in language area studies, language teaching, applied linguistics, communication or education/pedagogy or related area is required.
  • Degrees with special emphasis on the theory and practice of teaching a second or foreign language to adult learners are desirable.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with six years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Post-degree training in second or foreign language teaching is highly desirable.

Languages Required
• Expert level of competence in Russian (oral and written) according to the UN Language Framework is required. • Knowledge of English and French is required.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of other UN official languages is an advantage.

3 months (x 3/year)

Remuneration
Part-time teachers are paid per teaching hour.
