Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a project aimed at accelerating Trinidad & Tobago's transition towards a net-zero, nature-positive economy. This role involves guiding project implementation and facilitating activities with UNDP, implementing partners, and donors.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate effective project planning and implementation, managing output delivery, financial reporting, and organizing project events.
  • Lead administrative and planning functions, including workplans, budget revisions, and procurement plans.
  • Liaise with the Finance team for administrative and financial management.
  • Supervise staff, experts, consultants, and implementing partners.
  • Manage and coordinate project consultancies and community engagement.
  • Ensure proper operational and financial closure of the project.
  • Establish partnerships and open communication channels with stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying risks and preparing mitigation strategies.
  • Track project achievements against the Results Framework and Gender Action Plan.
  • Manage Mid-Term and Terminal Evaluations and capture lessons learned.
  • Facilitate knowledge and capacity building, knowledge sharing, and advocacy.
  • Participate in high-level events and outreach activities.
  • Contribute technical input to training materials and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Manage project knowledge through effective dissemination.
Required Experience
  • 5 years (with Master's degree) or 7 years (with Bachelor's degree) of demonstrable experience in project/programme management.
  • Experience in fields related to natural resource management, environmental policy, or climate change mitigation and adaptation.
  • Experience in the national environmental context.
  • Experience managing and coordinating a complex, multi-stakeholder project.
  • Experience leading, managing, and motivating teams of consultants to achieve results.
  • At least five years of proven experience in managing and coordinating cross-ministerial or multi-sectoral initiatives concerning environmental management, climate change mitigation, net zero, or sustainable development.
  • At least two years of proven experience with GEF funded projects.
  • Prior work experience with UN Agencies or other Multilateral or International Development Agencies.
  • Experience in socio-economic analysis and scenario modeling for environmental and sustainability projects.
Qualifications
  • Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a subject related to Economics, Finance, Civil or Energy Engineering, Environmental Management, or related fields is required.
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
