Overview

The Assistant Human Rights Officer will assist in the implementation of activities related to human rights promotion and protection in the occupied Palestinian territory.


Key Responsibilities
  • Researches and collects information pertaining to violations of international human rights and humanitarian law.
  • Drafts inputs to reports and correspondence relating to human rights matters.
  • Assists with human rights training programmes.
  • Assists in the reviews of human rights issues and participates in discussions.
  • Participates in discussions with relevant authorities and other influential actors.
  • Assists supervisor in liaising with government, NHRI, NGOs, Civil Society organizations, UN agencies and other partners.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Required Experience

For applicants with a first level university degree, two additional years of qualifying work experience is required. Experience conducting trainings on human rights law is desirable. Experience in international human rights law and humanitarian law is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
