Overview

This internship focuses on supporting the planning, implementation, and reporting of projects related to water and sanitation operators worldwide, contributing to capacity development and service improvements.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support planning, implementation and reporting on GWOPA’s projects
  • Knowledge development, documentation and management of communities of practice
  • Supporting the preparation of GWOPA global outreach and learning events
  • Update the GWOPA’s Data Portal on monitoring of WOPs including WOPs Observatory, WOPs and Organizations Profiles
  • Support project budget and financial management
  • Support GWOPA’s event preparations such as GWOPA Assembly and World Urban Forum 2026
  • Assisting in the preparation of draft concept papers, background documents, position papers.
  • Assisting in the development of project concept notes/project briefs and project documents for resource mobilization.
  • Data management and analysis.
  • Conducting research on pertinent topics related to water and sanitation
  • Assisting with communication and information management
  • Assisting with the management of websites and drafting of newsletters.
  • Updating the WOPs profiles in line with GWOPA’s Water Action Agenda Commitment
  • Coordinate with GWOPA members on the reporting of WOPs in the Observatory undertake research on the digitalization of WOPs, including thematic papers.
  • Assisting in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of events and workshops.
  • Assisting in the administration, budgeting and financial management aspects of programme management
  • Support to finalize the WOP in Climate adaptation and mitigation paper.
  • Undertaking other assignments as required for the development and implementation of the work programme of GWOPA
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).

Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
