Overview

The internship provides technical assistance to governments in Southeast Asia to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies, justice-delivery services, and health authorities, focusing on drug control within the Greater Mekong Subregion.


Key Responsibilities
  • Draft concept note and invitations for activities planned;
  • Translate documents from English to Chinese and vice versa;
  • Assist with preparation of presentations, documents, and meeting minutes;
  • Prepare and summarize evaluation and feedback forms;
  • Draft activity reports with recommendations;
  • Draft web stories and advocacy materials;
  • Conduct research on topics related to drug control;
  • Other tasks assigned by the Regional Office.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • OR be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs;
  • Have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Teams.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is required for the internship
Languages Preferred
Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.

Remuneration
The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full time - 40 hours). Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
