Overview

This internship supports public information activities within the Visitors Services Section, engaging and educating the public about the United Nations' work through outreach, research, and communications.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in outreach activities to educate the public about the UN's work by providing support for guided tours, briefings, events, and multimedia projects
  • Assist in conducting research on UN thematic issues
  • Assist in drafting correspondence, short articles, text for fact sheets, social media content, and other communications materials
  • Assist in responding to visitors' queries in person and in writing
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and analysis of surveys on visitors' experience
  • Assist in taking photographs and videos
  • Perform other duties as required
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience; however, a field of study that is related to the type of internship is required. Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word and MS PowerPoint, is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the two following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent), or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)

Languages Required
Fluency in English is required for this internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations is an advantage.
Contract Duration
4 - 6 months (6 months preferable)
Work Modality
full-time and in-person in New York but could possibly be adjusted to part-time
Remuneration
This internship is unpaid. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
