Overview
The WASH Officer role focuses on programme development, planning, management, monitoring, and delivery of results within the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector. The position also provides technical and operational support for programme implementation and contributes to humanitarian WASH preparedness and response.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and analyze regional/national political, WASH, health, and social and economic development trends.
- Prepare technical reports and inputs for programme preparation and documentation.
- Assist in the development/establishment of WASH-related outcome and output results.
- Provide technical and administrative support throughout all stages of programming processes.
- Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources.
- Support the process of PR drafting, contracting, and contract tracking.
- Prepare inputs for programme and donor reporting requirements.
- Undertake field visits and surveys, collect, and share reports with partners/stakeholders.
- Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts and partners on WASH policies and strategies.
- Assist with data collection for emergency response.
- Build and sustain close working partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders.
- Draft communication and information materials for WASH programme advocacy.
- Participate in inter-agency meetings/events on WASH programming.
- Research information on potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials.
- Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and documentation of WASH action research and innovation.
- Assist in the preparation of learning/knowledge products.
- Assist in creating and delivering learning opportunities for UNICEF WASH staff.
- Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives.
- Train relevant stakeholders on data collection, treatment, and usage.
Required Experience
At least 1 year of relevant work experience in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), monitoring and evaluation, information management, data management, program management, contract management, humanitarian response, capacity building, water resources management, partnership development. and any other related fields. Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
Qualifications
Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Information Systems, Information Management, Physical Sciences, Engineering, information technology, hydrogeology, and any other related fields.
