Overview

The Senior Project Officer will be responsible for the overall database management for research in Bangladesh, supporting the design, management, and maintenance of a secure and high-quality database for in-country research.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a centralized database structure for longitudinal research.
  • Ensure compatibility between survey tools and central databases.
  • Maintain comprehensive data dictionaries and metadata documentation.
  • Maintain unique identifiers for study participants.
  • Ensure seamless linkages within and between multiple data sources.
  • Prepare cleaned datasets for analysis.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor procedures for data validation, cleaning, and error checking.
  • Monitor data from field teams and identify inconsistencies or missing data.
  • Develop automated scripts and quality checks for data integrity.
  • Ensure secure storage and handling of sensitive research data.
  • Implement data protection protocols.
  • Manage user access controls and maintain audit logs.
  • Lead the development of sampling and field plans for data collection.
  • Develop and lead technical guidance and training on data collection.
  • Provide support and troubleshoot data collection and management queries.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating enumerator training sessions.
  • Support deployment and daily management of enumerator teams.
  • Maintain field activity records, data quality assurance, and monitoring logs.
  • Provide regular updates on data-related and field-level progress.
  • Contribute to policy briefs and reports.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 3-4 years of progressive experience in data management for MEAL, research studies, field research, surveys, learning assessments, and/or relevant practice.
  • Experience with digital data collection tools (eg, Kobo Toolbox, SurveyCTO, Commcare, Tangerine, ODK).
  • Experience with managing large datasets across multiple research phases.
  • Experience leading data collection (quantitative) and field supervision.
  • Experience working in humanitarian or education programs preferred.
Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, data science, computer science, information systems, economics, education or related field with relevant experience.

• Fluency in English and Bangla required.
Languages Preferred
• Fluency in Rohingya, Chittagonian or Burmese is desirable.
Contract Duration
31st May 2027 (with possibility of extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent)
