Overview
Paralegals and Eviction Taskforce Monitors will provide community-based legal assistance, information, counselling, and referral services to displaced and vulnerable populations. They will support case identification, legal awareness raising, dispute resolution follow-up, documentation support, and referrals related to Housing, Land and Property (HLP), civil documentation, and protection concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive community outreach to monitor, identify, and document eviction threats, patterns, and risk factors.
- Regularly engage with community members, IDP representatives, and local leaders to gather information on emerging eviction risks.
- Provide timely referrals to the ICLA team for follow-up on high-risk of eviction cases.
- Deliver accurate and accessible information and counselling services to communities regarding their HLP rights and available legal assistance.
- Organize and participate in individual and group information sessions across identified displacement sites.
- Assist in preparing and conducting community-based assessments (e.g., focus groups, interviews, and surveys) to better understand protection concerns.
- Support mapping of relevant service providers and update referral pathways on a weekly basis.
- Document and report on all outreach and community engagement activities accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support planning and implementation of ICLA activities on a weekly/monthly basis in collaboration with the ICLA team.
- Assist with distribution and communication of legal awareness materials.
- Strengthen linkages between the community and available NRC services.
- Maintain regular communication with the ICLA team in Jowhar for technical guidance.
- Coordinate with other NRC field teams to ensure integrated service delivery.
- Monitor the quality and impact of services provided during outreach activities.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports to designated ICLA staff, including updates on eviction monitoring.
- Carry out administrative tasks related to field activities as needed.
- Perform any other tasks assigned.
Required Experience
- Experience in community outreach and mobilization.
- Experience in case documentation and field data collection.
- Experience working in legal/humanitarian sectors preferred.
- Familiarity with eviction response and prevention approaches.
Qualifications
• Diploma in Law, High School Certificate or equivalent.
