Overview

Provides programme/project management and implementation assistance within the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity. Collaborates with colleagues to cost recommendations, process costing information, and update the Results-based Management framework.


Key Responsibilities
  • Researches, compiles, analyses, summarizes, and presents basic information/data.
  • Reviews, appraises and revises submissions for substantive programmes/projects.
  • Ensures establishment of proper monitoring systems.
  • Monitors budgetary commitments and evaluates trends of financial implementation.
  • Drafts inputs for a wide range of documents/reports.
  • Monitors implementation at all stages and initiates remedial action.
  • Supervises office support staff.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of data and preparation of data presentations.
  • Assists with visualizations and updating information material.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to cost recommendations and decisions.
  • Keeps CBD costing templates under review and suggests improvements.
  • Assists colleagues with costing exercises, quality-controls their work, and prepares final versions.
  • Prepares summary costing tables for inclusion in CBD documents.
  • Drafts table 4 on voluntary requirements for the budget document.
  • Facilitates the inclusion of final costing data into the management information system.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to update and cost inputs in the RBM framework.
  • Contributes to the updating of formulations for the RBM framework’s sub-output and higher levels.
  • Performs other tasks as required.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience, in sustainable development or environment-related programmes is required.
  • The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to eight (8) years for candidates who possess a first level university degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in the United Nations Common System or similar international organization is desirable.
  • Experience working with an Enterprise Resources Planning system, such as Umoja or a similar system, is desirable.
  • One year or more experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Relevant training in project management, project management systems, financial management, results-based management, and budgeting is desirable.
