Overview

The expert will support the uptake of energy-efficient and climate-friendly cooling solutions through financial and market analysis, and the development of Monitoring Reporting and Verification frameworks. The role also involves providing technical content and training to government agencies and businesses.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and execution of market transformation projects, focusing on space cooling and cold chain.
  • Provide technical support for the development and refinement of regional or national Energy Performance Standards frameworks.
  • Lead oversight and coordination of Product Registration System (PRS) software development and piloting.
  • Support the development of Monitoring, Verification and Enforcement (MVE) frameworks.
  • Prepare pitch and concept materials for sustainable cooling and energy-efficient data centres.
  • Serve as project coordinator for a financial mechanism project, including implementation coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Contribute to U4E's communications campaigns, focusing on financing and MVE aspects.
Required Experience
  • More than 10-years experience and proven technical competencies in cooling energy efficiency and refrigeration, including familiarity with natural refrigerants.
  • Developing and deploying financing mechanisms, MVE frameworks and tools (including software) for the promotion of energy efficient appliances in developing and emerging economies.
  • Drafting and securing buy-in for policy recommendations on energy efficiency.
  • Technical knowledge on HVAC systems, especially Room Air Conditioners, natural refrigerant gases and energy efficiency for cooling appliances.
  • Knowledge of past and current financing mechanisms for energy efficient appliances, product testing standards and compliance projects and initiatives.
  • Active involvement and thorough knowledge of international best practices in energy efficiency strategies and energy-efficient HVAC technologies, practices and programmes.
  • Knowledge of various software development frameworks, processes, information exchange tools, and estimated timelines for development of web app functionalities.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with government and private sector internationally.
  • Thorough background preparing and delivering training and providing capacity building to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to rapidly analyse and integrate diverse information from varied field sources in order to produce highly qualitative communication presentations.
  • Excellent written and oral communications ability to effectively convey technical topics to non-experts.
Qualifications

• Minimum university degree (Bachelors) or equivalent in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial, or similar), Electricity, Environmental Affairs, or a relevant scientific development discipline.
