Overview
Contribute to strengthening child protection systems across the Pacific by supporting legislative and normative reform processes and contributing to resource mobilization efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to ad hoc requests for cabinet submissions, briefings, and high-level advocacy opportunities related to legislative and policy reform.
- Provide technical assistance for the formulation of policies and regulations.
- Support the technical drafting of new legislation, as required.
- Lead in country- missions to facilitate high-level-level sessions on legislative reform opportunities and strengthen implementation of existing child protection frameworks.
- Conduct Australia based advocacy with government counterparts and donors to advance UNICEF Pacific’s Justice for Children priorities.
- Lead capacity building efforts of frontline social welfare providers on child protection and child justice.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in child protection, child justice, and/or other related areas, some of which preferably were served in a developing country, is required.
- Relevant experience working with an international organization, NGO, or Government in the Pacific, or a similar context, is required.
- Relevant experience providing advocacy and technical advice directly to high-level Government officials (Ministerial level or the equivalent), preferably in the Pacific, is required.
Qualifications
Master’s in in international development, human rights, international law, or other relevant field is required.
