Overview

This consultancy aims to evaluate the effectiveness, impact, and fidelity of a regional midwifery mentorship program in West and Central Africa. The goal is to provide evidence-based recommendations for its institutionalization and sustainable anchoring.


Key Responsibilities
  • Map current evidence and conduct a gap analysis.
  • Develop a detailed evaluation methodology, including sampling and tools.
  • Conduct multi-country mixed-methods data collection with various stakeholders.
  • Analyze data to assess implementation fidelity, impact on clinical competencies, and institutionalization.
  • Present findings and preliminary recommendations.
  • Finalize the evaluation report incorporating feedback.
  • Document successes, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Develop strategic recommendations for scaling up, harmonization, and financial anchoring.
Required Experience
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in maternal health, mentoring, and development of mentorship programmes.
  • Strong technical knowledge in midwifery education, including capacity building in low-to-medium income countries.
  • Knowledge of Competency-based education methodologies.
  • Knowledge of UNFPA programming processes, proposal/project development and monitoring and evaluation, and programme management skills will be an asset.
Qualifications

• Minimum of Master’s Degree in midwifery, Social Science, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Public Health, or other related field.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in French and English.
Languages Preferred
Experience and knowledge of working in French Speaking countries will be an added advantage.
