Overview
The Driver will provide day-to-day logistics transport for the World Bank office in N’djamena, Chad, driving office vehicles for authorized personnel and handling mail delivery and collection.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive World Bank staff to meetings and business sites.
- Operate World Bank office vehicles responsibly and securely.
- Maintain vehicles in clean and serviceable condition daily.
- Ensure vehicle insurance, registration, and service schedules are up to date.
- Keep an updated vehicle logbook, including service and fuel dates.
- Fuel office vehicles according to procedures.
- Carry out basic vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Prevent accidents and demonstrate professional maneuvers.
- Follow Road Safety Policy in case of travel and accidents.
- Ensure passenger safety and handle emergency situations.
- Ensure vehicles are equipped with safety features and are roadworthy.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections.
- Adhere to World Bank Road Safety Policies and National Highway Code.
- Assist with ad hoc administrative tasks.
Required Experience
- At least five (05) years of professional driving experience in a multi-cultural environment with a safe driving record.
- Thorough knowledge of driving rules and regulations and the Road Security Code.
- Possess basic skills in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of UN system security procedures and VHF Radio call conversation is an added advantage.
- Good geographical knowledge of Chad and other countries in the sub-region.
- Willingness to drive throughout Chad and neighboring countries.
Qualifications
- Senior Secondary School Education or equivalent.
- Valid driving license.
- Capable of Defensive Driving.
- Computer literate.
