Overview
The Financial Management Specialist will provide fiduciary assurance for World Bank-financed operations in Nigeria, offering financial management expertise and support to projects and programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance of World Bank-financed operations with FM policies and procedures.
- Act as ADM FMS for operations throughout the project/program cycle.
- Work as a core member of individual project teams and the Institutions team.
- Generate and exchange knowledge relating to FM issues.
- Conduct assessments of FM country systems and capacity assessments.
- Prepare FMS contributions to project documents.
- Review implementation of internal controls and financial reporting systems.
- Review and approve ToR of Financial Officers and auditors.
- Provide training and capacity-building support.
- Monitor and report on financial performance of projects and programs.
- Participate in Implementation Support missions and Country Portfolio Reviews.
- Review project/program Interim Financial Reports and audited financial statements.
Required Experience
At least 5 years of relevant experience in financial management of recipient-executed operations in the World Bank, other international development organizations, or governments; or as an accountant or auditor in the private sector or public administration.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) – membership in a recognized professional accountancy organization which has a status of full IFAC membership.
