Overview

The Staff Officer (Doctrine) is responsible for the application of NATO Logistic policies, concepts, doctrines, and standards to ongoing and future operations. The role participates in the development of NATO joint policies, concepts, doctrines, and standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the implementation and application of superior HQ policy, guidance, directives, doctrines, procedures and regulations.
  • Participates in the development of NATO joint policies, concepts, doctrines and standards.
  • Contributes to NATO Standardization and Experimentation efforts.
  • Provides feedback and inputs to development of higher HQ's policy and guidance.
  • Act as the JLSGNP lead for doctrine, policy, training and educational issues with regard to Logistics.
  • Review and contribute to all JLSGNP related Doctrine, Policy, Logistic concept, plans, orders, Procedures, instructions, etc.
  • Participates in operations, exercises and preparation events to ensure compliance with current policies, concepts, doctrines and standards.
  • Develops, employs and improves tools and systems to collect and assess observations from operations, exercises and preparation events.
  • Lessons Learned Subject Matter Expert for JLSGNP.
  • Undertakes work as part of a project team or working group as directed or assigned.
  • Provide support to the Training & Exercise Section and perform other duties as assigned by Branch Head.
Required Experience
  • Proven professional experience in developing plans and policy guidance to implement logistics management programs.
  • Proven excellent drafting and editing skills.
  • Proven professional experience in the field of policy drafting.
  • Proven professional experience in Lessons Learned processes.
  • Proven professional experience with developing/contributing to planning documents (ex. Annexes for operation plans).
  • Familiar with NATO and/or military processes priorities.
  • At least 3 years of experience in drafting national/NATO logistic doctrine and/or policy documents.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a NATO logistic role.
  • At least 3 years of NATO experience or equivalent at international organization.
Qualifications

• University Degree in history, geography, politics, economics, operations research or related discipline and 2 years function related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.

• English - SLP 4343 - (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) based on NATO Standards.

• Normal NATO office working environment / Secure office environment with artificial light and air (e.g. Bunker). Normal Working Conditions apply.
