Overview

The Project Officer will support the UNODC Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) expansion in Syria by establishing strategic partnerships, facilitating coordination, and contributing to programmatic areas.


Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain regular contact with key national counterparts.
  • Represent the organization at UN Country Team (UNCT) meetings and coordination fora.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with UN partners, international organizations, and civil society.
  • Promote the organization’s mandate and global frameworks.
  • Identify priority areas for technical assistance and capacity-building.
  • Contribute to the formulation of concept notes and project proposals.
  • Provide technical input and background research.
  • Engage with donors and international partners.
  • Support resource mobilization efforts.
  • Map existing and potential partners.
  • Coordinate administrative, logistical, and operational arrangements for office establishment.
  • Prepare regular situation updates, mission reports, and briefing notes.
Required Experience

At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in technical cooperation, project management, and coordination within the UN system, government, or international organizations. Previous experience working in post-conflict or transitional contexts. Experience in partnership-building, donor relations, and programme development.

Qualifications

Master's degree in International relations, political science, social science, public health, law, public administration, business administration or a related field.

Remuneration
Entry lump sum (one-time payment): USD 1287.18 Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): USD 350 Danger and Hardship Differential depending on the hardship classification and family/non-family status of the duty station. Free access to UNV's learning and career development resources
