Overview
The Programme Management Officer, Administration, P4 will assist the Under-Secretary-General in setting and implementing the strategic direction of the Department of Operational Support and monitoring strategic support issues and operational requirements in United Nations operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the USG in setting and implementing the strategic direction of the Department.
- Assists the USG in conveying guidance and instructions to DOS managers.
- Monitors strategic support issues and operational requirements in United Nations operations.
- Develops, implements and evaluates assigned programmes/projects.
- Reviews relevant documents and reports.
- Acts as focal point for researching, analyzing and presenting information.
- Participates in Departmental policy development.
- Organizes and prepares high quality written outputs.
- Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings.
- Coordinates with all relevant Departments, other UN entities, other international organizations and representatives.
- Participates in the development of and maintains an efficient system of review of incoming communications and correspondence.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.
- Experience in drafting analytical reports, policy briefings, high level speeches is required.
- Experience working with a senior official in the development and support of policy and programme management is required.
- Experience working with a senior level official on field support related issues, including in relation to establishment, or downsizing of field operations in the United Nations or a similar international organization is desirable.
- At least one year of field experience within the United Nations Common System or other comparable international organizations is desirable.
- Experience providing support to a senior official in a front office setting is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in business or public administration, management, economics, social science, law, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
