Overview
The Finance and Budget Officer will be responsible for supporting and coordinating budgetary and financial functions for the Regional Office in Vienna and Country Offices within the Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support in monitoring and overseeing financial management for all activities in the RO and COs.
- Undertake preliminary financial analysis of programmes/projects and monitor budget control processes.
- Provide technical support to Programme/Project Managers.
- Ensure accounting data is properly entered into the ERP system and maintain accurate financial records.
- Assist in reviewing monthly accounting closure records and returns.
- Inspect Payroll versus programme/project budgets for COs.
- Coordinate and prepare programme/project financial reports.
- Liaise with relevant Units at HQ and Administrative Centres.
- Assist in forecasting cash flows and ensure daily control of funds disbursed.
- Make recommendations on procedural improvements and contribute to training of staff.
- Provide support in facilitating financial audit of programmes/projects.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
- Two years of relevant professional experience with a Master's degree; or four years of relevant professional experience with a University degree.
- Experience in accounting, financial management and reporting.
- Experience in preparing clear and concise financial and management reports.
- Experience working in and with international institutions.
- Experience with internal control assessment, internal or external audit.
- Previous work experience in the Region is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or University degree in the above fields.
- Professional certification as Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) will be an advantage.
