Overview
Interns in the Office of the President support mandated functions of the President of the Mechanism through legal research and drafting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting comprehensive legal research
- Assisting in the drafting and proofreading of decisions, orders, and other judicial documents
- Assisting in the preparation of reports to the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly
- Analyzing relevant laws, rules, and policies
- Assisting in the drafting of speeches and official correspondence
- Providing support on press and policy matters
- Assisting with the management, retention, and disposition of records
- Compiling and collecting materials
- Other duties as required
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a law university-degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent)
- Law (including International Law) students enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate-school programme (second university degree (Master’s Degree) or equivalent, or higher)
