Overview
Support and provide guidance to UNICEF PMCO Office and the Kiribati KNSO for the preparation, implementation, and completion of the MICS survey in Kiribati. Advise and support the KNSO during survey planning, questionnaire design, sampling, training, fieldwork, data processing, data analysis, reporting, dissemination, and archiving.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary technical and managerial support to the MICS in Kiribati.
- Present the MICS methodology, tools, and guidelines to partners/stakeholders.
- Finalize, in collaboration with national partners and UNICEF PMCO, the Survey Plan and Budget.
- Prepare the submission for the MICS proposal to the National Research Review Committee.
- Ensure that the Ethical Protocol and other ethical recommendations are addressed.
- Oversee each stage of the survey process and ensure MICS protocols and standards are followed.
- Communicate regularly with the UNICEF PMCO and/or the UNICEF MICS Team.
- Provide monthly updates on MICS activities.
- Coordinate the work of KNSO specialists and the UNICEF MICS Team.
- Ensure that external technical reviews are carried out.
- Ensure that all survey-related documents and deliverables are properly archived.
- Participate in all in-country MICS Steering and Technical Committee meetings.
- Participate in, and contribute to MICS Regional Workshops.
- Organize, as required, and facilitate the national Data Interpretation and Report Compilation Workshop.
- Ensure that lessons learned, problems, and good practices are documented and shared.
- Support planning and customization of other MICS initiatives.
Required Experience
- Proven minimum of 5 years of experience in the coordination and/or management of quantitative household surveys (prior MICS or Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) preferred).
- Strong computer skills and strong expertise in statistical analyses (familiarity with data processing and data analysis software, particularly SPSS) is required.
- Experience with CAPI data collection is required.
- Training experience and ability to organize and facilitate training and presentations.
- Experience in data analysis and survey report writing.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
Qualifications
- Master’s University degree in, Demography, Statistics, Social Sciences, Epidemiology, or any other related technical field is required.
- Two years of additional relevant work experience gained after obtaining a bachelor’s degree may be accepted in lieu of advanced degree.
