Overview
The Legal Analysis Officer conducts legal research and analysis, develops policy recommendations, and supports advocacy efforts to enhance social protection mechanisms for conflict-affected populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and analyses legislation, bylaws, judicial and administrative practice on issues related to program activities.
- Prepare draft legal informational materials, including position papers, information notes, and other analytical materials.
- Organize and facilitate roundtables/seminars/conferences on relevant legal issues.
- Conduct research, legal analysis and prepare thematic reports.
- Contribute to the preparation of survey questionnaires and other tools to assess legal and other needs.
- Facilitate trainings on thematic legal issues.
- Participate in the preparation of project reports.
- Collect data and information from lawyers for advocacy activities.
- Conduct relevant advocacy activities to improve legislation and ensure rights and freedoms.
- Participate in relevant advocacy meetings, cluster meetings and working groups.
- Represent DRC at humanitarian, public and private forums.
- Collaborate with DRC lawyers in overseeing pilot cases and strategic litigation.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of vulnerable groups using research and legal analysis.
- Maintain communication and coordination with relevant departments and programs of DRC.
Required Experience
Minimum 2 years of professional legal experience, preferably in a humanitarian setting. Proven experience in conducting legal analysis and in leading or supporting legal advocacy initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field.
