Overview
The Security/Access Associate will support the country office in implementing access and security strategies and plans. The role involves ensuring the security of personnel, facilities, and operations, and facilitating coordinated humanitarian access.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate staff activities during field missions and conduct security assessments.
- Analyze security assessment reports and present risk mitigation recommendations.
- Assist in implementing risk management measures and ensure effective access control procedures.
- Contribute to refining operational modalities due to access constraints.
- Develop and update recommendations for emergency and relief intervention planning.
- Conduct security training for staff and review training needs.
- Manage and maintain security equipment and make recommendations for technical enhancements.
- Supervise and provide on-the-job training to other staff members.
- Review security threats and risks and prepare accurate reports on developments.
- Review security information and use information management tools for analysis and reporting.
- Advise the country director on security risk management issues.
- Proactively collect information from partners and stakeholders.
- Create and maintain contact directories.
- Contribute to the review of food security and nutrition analysis.
- Transmit critical information impacting security in real-time.
- Liaise and coordinate with local authorities, UN security personnel, NGOs, and other actors.
- Support overall access initiatives and participate in access-related meetings.
- Contribute to WFP's participation in the Access Working Group (AWG).
- Liaise with OCHA and national humanitarian access focal points.
Required Experience
At least 6 years of relevant experience in humanitarian access, security management, and community relations in a conflict setting.
Qualifications
Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by a university degree or equivalent in social sciences, political sciences, management, communication, or other related fields.
